Halloween falls on a Saturday this year. So every weekend in October is about to get busy, and the last one is going to be packed.
Here’s the short answer if you’re planning a night out. Book a free-roam VR horror experience at Zero Latency VR Fort Worth on South Hulen St. You get four horror worlds, three Halloween packages that pair two experiences in one booking, and a Squad of up to 8 inside the same world together. Then fill out the rest of the month with the local events further down.
Quick picks for your Squad
- Want the biggest scare? Book “Haunted”.
- First horror booking? Start with “Outbreak”.
- Want chaos more than creepy? “Outbreak 2: Mall Mayhem”.
- Competitive crowd? “Undead Arena” has a leaderboard.
- Can’t pick? Book a Halloween package and get two experiences in one session.
Why VR horror hits different
A traditional haunted house runs on actors. Someone in a mask jumps out at the same corner, on the same path, for every group that night.
Free-roam VR works another way. You put on a headset and walk the whole arena floor on your own two feet, untethered, with no cables and no backpack. Your Squad is inside the same world with you. So when something moves behind you, you have to actually turn around and look.
In a regular horror game you’re controlling the player. Here, you are the player.
You don’t need any VR experience either. A game master walks your Squad through the gear before you start and stays with you the whole session. First-timers play next to regulars all the time.
The Halloween lineup at Zero Latency Fort Worth
Four horror experiences are on the floor right now. All four take 1 to 8 players and are rated 12+.
1. “Haunted”
Style: Horror Survival Adventure
The one built to genuinely unsettle you. “Haunted” drops your Squad into a house that does not want you to leave. You need to stick together to survive, and the house will do anything to get you alone.
If your Squad wants a haunted house this Halloween, this is the haunted house. See “Haunted”.
2. “Outbreak”
Style: Cooperative Zombie Shooter
The original co-op zombie shooter. You’re guarding the only cure, the lab has been overrun, and the way out runs through abandoned hospitals, swampy basements and a few heights you won’t love. It’s tense, but you’re armed and you’re together, which makes it the classic first horror booking. See “Outbreak”.
3. “Outbreak 2: Mall Mayhem”
Style: Cooperative Zombie Shooter
The infection found a new home, and it’s a shopping mall. Mutant zombies wall to wall, floors that shatter, corridors on fire. It’s more frantic than frightening, and it’s ridiculously fun. See “Outbreak 2: Mall Mayhem”.
4. “Undead Arena”
Style: Cooperative Zombie Shooter
Part zombie survival, part 80s game show. You’re contestants fighting off waves of undead under neon lights while your Squad argues over the top score. Closer to funny than scary, which makes it the perfect second experience after something darker. See “Undead Arena”.
How scary is each one?
Not everyone in your Squad wants the same night. Here’s how the four rank, mildest first:
- “Undead Arena” (Rowdy). Neon, loud, competitive.
- “Outbreak 2: Mall Mayhem” (Frantic). Pure chaos.
- “Outbreak” (Tense). Dark hospital, real stakes.
- “Haunted” (Terror). The one people warn their friends about.
Booking for a mixed Squad? Book one level below your bravest person. Nobody spends the night in the lobby, and the brave one still gets their scare.
Halloween packages: two experiences, one booking
Nobody books horror and stops at one. That’s why we run Halloween packages that pair two experiences in a single session, priced as one booking instead of two.
- Thrills and Chills: “Haunted” + “Outbreak.” 45 minutes, from $55 per person, ages 12+. Our limited-time Halloween package. Walk the house first, then fight your way out of the hospital.
- Oops, All Zombies: “Outbreak” + “Undead Arena.” 45 minutes, from $55 per person. The pick when half the Squad wants the scare and the other half wants to win something.
- Outbreak + Outbreak 2. 60 minutes, from $65 per person, ages 12+. The full zombie story from where the infection started to what it turned into at the mall. Our longest session.
Got someone who wants nothing to do with horror? Rise of the Machines pairs “Singularity” and “Sol Raiders,” robots and team-vs-team battles, also 45 minutes from $55. Everyone still gets a night out.
Prices are per person and start lowest on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday through Sunday is standard price, and the exact rate shows at checkout. See every option on our packages and specials page.
More Halloween things to do in Fort Worth this year
We’re biased, sure. But Fort Worth does Halloween well, and these are the local events we’d put on the calendar too. Dates are from each organizer’s site as of October 13, 2026, so double check before you go.
- >Cutting Edge Haunted House. The big one, inside a 100-year-old meatpacking plant downtown. Live actors, multiple stories and a walk-through that takes around 55 minutes. Good pick if your Squad wants the traditional scare after trying one with no actors at all.
- >Boo at the Zoo. October 23, 24 and 25 at the Fort Worth Zoo, with treat stations and live entertainment. A daytime family option.
- >Stockyards Spooktacular. Halloween night at the Fort Worth Stockyards with trick-or-treating for kids 12 and under, hayrides and face painting. Check their page for this year’s times.
Three ways to plan your Halloween night
The friend-group night. Thrills and Chills at Zero Latency, then grab food nearby and settle who screamed first. Want more? Hit Cutting Edge on a different night and compare.
The family weekend with teens. Boo at the Zoo during the day for the younger kids, then Oops, All Zombies for the teens 12 and up. Everyone goes home tired.
The date night. “Haunted” for two, then dinner. It’s dinner and a movie, except you’re in the movie.
Planning a Halloween birthday or a work party? Private events get you the whole arena plus a party room.
